Train, car, plane, bus: how do I get to Epernay?

Arrival on sparkling ground!

In the heart of the vineyards, the capital of Champagne Epernay enjoys an exceptional location. It is only 1h30 from Paris and Belgium, and 3h from Germany and England. Located in the center of 34,000 hectares of vineyards, it is also 27 km from Reims, 31 km from Châlons-en-Champagne and 48 km from Château-Thierry.

How to get there?

By Car

Epernay is at the crossroads of two major roads: the RN 51, which links the Benelux countries and the Nordic countries to the south of France and Europe, and the RN 3 from west to east, which links Paris to Strasbourg. Furthermore, there are two motorways on the outskirts of Epernay, putting it 1,5 hours from Paris and 3 hours from Dijon, Lille and England: the A4 Paris-Strasbourg and the A26 Calais-Dijon. Epernay is located 6 km from Hautvillers, 28 km from Reims and 140 km from Paris. It is possible to rent a car on site:
  • Clem’ electric car rental: The car-sharing station is located on rue Jean-Moët in Epernay.
  • Passenger car rental: E. Leclerc Pierry (accessible by bus lines 6 and 7) – SIXT CAR RENTAL from Reims city center station: 8 rue Pingat 51100 REIMS

By Train

Epernay has a train station, the connections with Reims and Paris are frequent.
  • Reims – Epernay: every 30 minutes on board the TER “la Ligne des bulles” 4 stops: Rilly-la-Montagne, Germaine, Avenay-Val-d’Or and Aÿ-Champagne.
  • Paris-Est – Epernay: 1h20 of travel.
  • Strasbourg – Epernay: 3.5 hour journey by direct TER or 3 hour journey by TGV then TER, with 2 connections in Reims
  • Lille – Epernay: a 2,5 hour journey by TGV then TER, with 2 connections at Reims
The Champagne-Ardenne TGV station (Reims-Bezannes) is 25 km away, the downtown station of Reims is 28 km away.

By Bus

Leaving Paris Bercy Seine with BlaBlaCar Bus, in 2 hours you’ll arrive in the Champagne region at Reims Bezannes, 25 km from Epernay.

To get to the capital of Champagne, take the tram to Reims Centre-Ville station and then board the TER “La ligne des bulles”, which runs every 30 minutes or so from 6.00am to 7.30pm.

By air

Access to Paris Charles-de-Gaulle airport is possible in 35 minutes from Reims. Located 30 km from Epernay, the airport of Reims en Champagne welcomes leisure and business aviation, as well as the airfield of Plivot located 11 km from the center of Epernay. The airport of Vatry is 40 km from the city.
