Vendangeur d'un jour® is ...
During the harvest, the Champagne region is in turmoil. More than 100,000 grape pickers are busy in the vineyards harvesting the grapes, 100% by hand.
It is a real experience to take part, at least once in one’s life, in these “old-fashioned” harvests, to discover the starting point of the champagne production, and to share convivial moments with the winegrower who welcomes us on his farm.
Become a Vendangeur d'un jour® (grape picker)
To make you live and discover this experience, the Tourist Office of Grand Reims and the Independent Winegrowers have created for you “Vendangeur d’un Jour®“, a sparkling product which includes :
- Welcome to the domain by the winemaker to discover the history and the terroir of the house
- Grape harvesting
- Visit of the press with a tasting of the freshly pressed grape juice
- Visit of the cellars
- Tasting of a flute of Champagne in the vineyard or at the end of the visit
- Presentation of a diploma and a few bunches of picked grapes
Where and when to harvest
Winegrowers from the different wine regions of the Champagne appellation (Massif de Saint Thierry, Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, Côte des Blancs, Coteaux sézannais et du petit morin, Côte des Bar, Coteaux Vitryats) participate in the operation. As the harvest is spread out over almost a month depending on the geographical area, this will increase your chances of participating.

Once the dates are known (the grape harvest usually takes place between mid-August and mid-September), all you have to do is choose a time slot and make the most of your experience!
