deux coupes de champagne qui trinquent dans le ciel

Wine cooperatives

The cooperatives of Champagne hold 50% of the wine growing areas of Champagne which shows the importance of these structures on our territory. Brands such as Nicolas Feuillatte in Chouilly, Beaumont des Crayères in Mardeuil, Vincent d’Astrée in Pierry, Champagne Chavost in Chavot-Courcourt and Champagne Mont-Hauban in Monthelon are cooperatives in the Champagne region. A little history, indeed, they were born at the same time as the cooperative movement in Champagne at the beginning of the XXth century during the the revolt of the wine growers. Two factors pushed this revolt: the catastrophic harvests due to very bad climatic conditions and the phylloxera crisis. In 1910The Federation of Champagne Wine Unions is organizing a big meeting to the anger of its members. It took place in Epernay itself and gathered 10,000 people.

You will recognize a cooperative champagne thanks to the mention CM (Cooperative Handling) on the label of the bottle. A cooperative takes care of to press the grapes of the members of the cooperativeto vinify them and to elaborate the blends. So, now, taste the bottles that are just waiting to give you their secrets and their aromas.
